As someone who loves Man of Steel, I can still agree to this. The only fault of this scene (and it's pretty much just picking nits) is that he's doing an impersonation of Christopher Reeve. I wish it could've just been Reeve or that Routh had been able to do his own take on Superman.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSjI7gwuKtg. IMO. Not only is this one of the best scenes from the movie, but I personally think it's one of the best scenes from ANY superhero movie in general. The MUSIC in particular was GODLY and inspirational as hell.
I think it gave a better sense of how Superman helps people every day. I know the two stories takes place at different points in time of his career, but even back in Superman 1978 we got to see superman being superman. In MoS it was all a plot about Krypton.
