I understand why some fans feel ill-served by Man of Steel, but as a lifelong Superman fan in my own right, I loved the mythological and reverential approach taken by Snyder, Goyer, and Nolan. There are some stumbles that may make or break it for folks, but overall, I found it to be an emotionally grounded take set in a world that needs Superman.
