It should be recognized, however, that Origen recognized only one ultimate source for this tradition - namely the Scriptures themselves. Already we see this in De principiis (3.6.6). The faith of the church is derived from Scripture. If something in the Greek philosophers is not found in Scripture then the church does not receive it.
