Nearly two decades ago, a dedicated team of filmmakers from Walt Disney Animation Studios traveled from Burbank, California, to New Orleans, Louisiana, hoping to find some inspiration for their next feature, The Princess and the Frog—and they found it in local legend Leah Chase, the ...

Princess Itinerary: 2 Day New Orleans Itinerary: Princess Tiana Edition Budget Travel: A Perfect Day in New Orleans on a Budget
Stop 1: Get breakfast at Cafe du Monde!
Beignets are such a signature pastry of New Orleans and they were clearly represented in The Princess and the Frog. So my suggestion is to start off your day with some beignets to see how they taste! When I was in New Orleans, I went to Cafe Du Mondeto get my first beignet and it was absolutely delicious. They weren’t really sprinkled with honey like in the movie but they had a lot of powdered sugar as you can see below. The address for the Cafe Du Monde I went to is at 800 Decatur St, New Or...
Stop 2: Make your way to Jackson Square and breathe in the scenery!
The scenery around Jackson Square is magical and breathtaking at the same time. I want to encourage you to take some time to capture any pictures you want on your phone. Jackson Square is extremely Instagrammable for all tourists and if you’re lucky, you might see some street performers here and there around the square. I saw a couple in the square during my time in New Orleans and they were super funny and entertaining. Jackson Square is also right across the street from Stop 1 so you should...
Stop 3: Get a Tarot Card Reading!
So, personally, when I was in New Orleans I did not go to a Tarot Card Reader because I knew it was going to make me feel uncomfortable. However, if you are okay with seeing a Tarot Card Reader, then there are plenty of them around Jackson Square that you can go visit. All I would suggest is that you would just use your discernment in this because the last thing I want is for you to get scammed.
Stop 1: Get some colorful beignets at the Bakery Bar!
If you’re looking for a place to get some awesome brunch, I would highly recommend the Bakery Bar for some colorful beignets! In the Bakery Bar, each beignet is filled with whipped Grand Marnier cream cheese and topped with dusted yellow, blue or green sugar. Not only are these pastries oh so delicious but they are also very Instagrammable. You will not be disappointed!
Stop 2: Hop on the St. Charles Streetcar!
Hopping on one of New Orleans’ streetcars should definitely be a must on your list. I would personally recommend the St. Charles Streetcar since it gives you a grand view of some of New Orleans most beautiful homes. The fare for the streetcar is $1.25 and it runs 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. If you don’t have any change on hand for the streetcar make sure to download the RTA Go Mobile 2.0 app. When I was in NOLA, I used this app to purchase all of my single ride tickets. The app also gav...
Stop 3: Head on over to the Garden District to see houses similar to “Big Daddy’s “ in NOLA
Hop off the streetcar at St. Charles and 1st street to make your way to the Garden District. The homes in the Garden District are very reminiscent of the neighborhood Charlotte, Tiana’s friend, and her father, Big Daddy, lived in in the movie. The Garden District is full of extravagant homes and it has one of the lowest crime rates in New Orleans. If you’re interested in a guided walking tour of this neighborhood, feel free to book one beforehand here!
To end this magical itinerary, I thought I would finish it off with a beautiful GIF and some frequently asked questions about NOLA! 🙂
