After spending much of the 1950s and 1960s as one of nighttime TV’s top personalities, singer Dinah Shore came to daytime television in 1970 in this NBC talk show and made it her home for the rest of the decade. She had a great deal of top-name guests doing the most unlikely activities.
From 1970 through 1980, Shore hosted two daytime programs, Dinah's Place (1970–1974) on NBC and Dinah! (later Dinah and Friends) in syndication from 1974 through 1980 and a third cable program from 1989 to 1992.
Dinah Shore, born as Fannye Rose Shore, was an American singer, television personality, and actress. She was the top-rated female American singer of the 1940s and rose to fame as a musician during the Big Band era. She then gained even greater success in films and television a decade later.
Dinah! was an afternoon variety talk show similar to Merv Griffin and Mike Douglas, in the same era, and in my opinion the best of those--my mother used to watch it and I saw many episodes in the summers when school was out.
