Having a character closely attached to religion gives you immense power, and it also gives you a lot of roleplaying opportunities when creating the character. And that gives you many backstory opportunities for such a character.

I don't want to risk other players knowing about my backstory, but I can recommend checking out "The Cleric Corner" youtube channel. He has some videos on making a unique character backstory that I drew some inspiration from for mine.
So, the cleric is by far my favorite class to play. I enjoy the healing role-- it just suits my personality. I have a pretty easy time thinking of backstories when I play literally any other class, and I know enough about 3.5 and 5e to mix up the races in unconventional ways.

If you choose to instead focus on the agricultural spin, Nature domain is still a great option (Though its channel divinity leaves something to be desired.

I like this backstory because it helps avoid the trope of the cleric being condesending towards the warlocks and rogues in a party. That Holier-than-though that can be easy to fall into. It also allows you to have some mark of evil, like a brand or tattoo that makes disrobing a point of RP if you want.
