In the past twenty years, personality traits have come to be recognized as central constructs in understanding human nature, with profound, pervasive, and enduring influences on people’s adjustment and behavior (Ozer & Benet-Martínez, 2006). They have also been shown to be deeply rooted in biology, presumably mediated by the structure and functioning of the brain.
