May 3, 2017 · As far as the cross cuts, start a row with a full tile against the left or right wall and stick down that row. Then, for the second row, simply hook your tape on one of the corners of the first row tiles and start the second row corner at the 8 inch mark on the tape. Or if you think it needs to be 7 7/8, that's fine.

I always make a template tool using something like a drywall knife. Mark it with blue tape from start of the first tile to the edge of the next in your next row (approximately 1/3) working left to right. Put your spacers and clips in. Lay 3 row and a few tiles in each row. Then use your template from right to left.
