You should apply for vocational assistance if you are: the spouse/common-law partner of a Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) Veteran who will not be able to take part in vocational rehabilitation due to their health condition, or. a survivor of a CAF member or Veteran whose death was service-related.
This policy identifies the Veteran, survivor and spouse/common-law partner eligibility criteria for the Rehabilitation Services and Vocational Assistance program (referred to as ‘the Rehabilitation Program’), and the application process requirements.
The Rehabilitation Program provides access to medical, psycho-social and vocational services that support your unique needs as a Veteran, spouse/common-law partner, or survivor.
For Veterans, our mission is support you to improve your medical and psychological function to the fullest extent possible and, if appropriate, help you achieve your vocational goals. If you are a spouse, common-law partner, or survivor, our objective is to provide you with vocational assistance to achieve your career goals.
Q4) What services are available to spouses to support employment? A4) Career Transition Services is available to spouses and survivors. Vocational Assistance may be accessible through the Rehabilitation Program if the Veteran has been deemed unable to participate in vocational rehabilitation.
"Veterans Affairs Canada offers rehabilitation services and vocational assistance, which can help improve Veterans’ employability after they leave the military. In certain cases, spouses, common-law partners and survivors may also access vocational assistance services.
In the case of spouses, CLPs or survivors, the Program aims to help them transition to civilian life by restoring their employability by meeting vocational needs arising from their experience during the Veteran’s military career or from providing care to the Veteran.
