Car is unmodified except for the two Weber DCOE 40s added and the removal by previous owner (s) of pretty much all of the pollution and smog equipment. In discussions with Redline, the current jetting is F8 60 idle jet, 170 air corrector, F 16 tube and 130 main jet.

Mar 26, 2001 · I regard these options (for the Spitfire engine at least) as alternative means of reaching the same power output as a conventionally tuned engine. If you put a turbo on a 1300 already producing 120 Bhp it would probably either blow it up or reduce its life to under 10,000 miles.
Apr 25, 2024 · The problem with the thrust bearing is serious, and every Spitfire (or GT-6, or TR-6) owner should know how to check crank end play. I know I was able to replace the thrust bearing in my TR-6 by dropping the pan and removing the rear main bearing cap, but can't remember if it the same on the Spitfire.

Jan 15, 2010 · The 1500 is not a revvy engine, unlike the Triumph 1300 or A-series 1275. I run a tuned 1500 in my Spitfire which has been fully balanced but, after advice from other owners, I am still reluctant to spend too long above the red line for fear of throwing a rod.
