Well, I'm not sure what they're talking about, because this sure ain't it! With a weight distributing hitch the Max Tow gains 2,400lbs of capacity and 240lbs of tongue weight.

For 2021 GMC and Chevrolet 1500s, it’s recommended that a weight-distribution hitch be used for trailers 7,000 pounds and over. Just like Ford, the GM products recommend a 50% FALR.

May 4, 2024 · For most of the numbers, a 2016 Max Tow equipped F150 should be OK with towing that amount of weight. At 10k lbs and (assuming) an 8% tongue weight, you'll have about 800 lbs tongue weight on the pickup. That'll mean a lot of squat. Technically speaking, the F150 shouldn't have more than 500 lbs tongue weight w/o a weight distributing hitch.
