  1. Jul 18, 2024 · Adding an adapter doesn’t change your AR-15’s classification; a rifle remains a rifle, and a pistol remains a pistol. Though the overall length of your rifle increases when you add a folding stock adapter to it, it doesn’t increase the barrel length so you can’t use a stock if the barrel is less than 16-inches in length.

Lots of guns have folding stocks, but the AR-15 can’t exactly do that since the design’s incorporation of a buffer tube and a direct impingement gas system requires a buffer extension inside the stock. The buffer tube and buffer are simply in the way. Or are they? We’ll get back to folding stocks on ARs a bit later, but let’s look at the other side...

Of course, we want to go smaller! For some reason, the current gun industry is all about getting smaller, and the means to make a weapon smaller are changing. The AR is tricky to make smaller, but it’s very possible. The smaller a gun is, the easier it is to travel with, the less room it takes up in storage. Overall a folded AR is a very small and ...

    1. LAW Tactical Folding Stock Adapter Gen 3

We have to start with the LAW Tactical adapter. The LAW adapter was thefirst stepin folding AR-15s. It introduced a way to fold the stock of an AR-15 while maintaining buffer integrity. The LAW is currently in its Gen 3 configuration and has only gotten better. The LAW can be installed at home in just a few minutes, and the instructions make it very clear how it works. One downside is that this system does not allow an AR to be fired with the stock folded so recognize that. It’s an adapter, s...

    Law Tactical vs Sylvan Arms

Compared with the more affordable Sylvan adapter down on the list, the LAW Tactical is the nicer one, in our opinion, for the following reasons: 1. More robust feeling (made of steel vs aluminum) 2. Tighter lockup 3. Can fire once when folded (not recommended still) 4. About half-inch shorter 5. Tighter hinged to stay open 6. Folds down flatter What’s your take on the LAW adapter? Rate it below!

    2. Dead Foot Arms Folding Stocks

Dead Foot Arms Folding stocksare a bit different than the LAW adapter. Admittedly they are a bit more expensive, but they also have the ability to fire when folded. These stocks won’t make the gun as small as a LAW adapter, but it does offer a true side folding stock. Stocks come in right and left-handed folding configurations, and the stocks or braces are angled downwards, which allows the gun to eject appropriately when firing. The Dead Foot Arms systems come in both pistol and rifle configu...

The AR-15 is a continually improving platform. It keeps adapting, changing, and molding itself into a rifle that will seemingly last forever. And now the ability to fold has taken the AR-15 beyond a simple gun, and it can now do something very few weapons can claim. • Magpul MOE. This bad boy set a baseline from the mil-spec (military specification) buttstock which did its job. The Magpul MOE (Magpul Original Equipment) was on my first rifle…and as you’ll see coming up…I like to rattle-can my AR furniture.
    • Mission First Battlelink Minimalist. Pretty new in the AR-15 buttstock world…but the Battlelink Minimalist is already taking over with lightweight builds.
    • B5 Systems Bravo. My go-to for a competitive/speed build where you still want to have a great cheekweld is B5 System’s Bravo. It’s lightweight for the extra amount of space to get that perfect and repeatable cheekweld.
    • Magpul MOE-SL. Next up is another Magpul creation…the MOE-SL…or slim line. It’s a definite upgrade from the MOE and close to the Bravo in terms of cheekweld for me.
  4. A collapsible stock allows you to make adjustments in terms of the length from the trigger to the buttpad, also known as the length of pull. These stocks will extend or retract to cater to different situations and users. A folding stock, however, offers the ability to fold the stock for storage or simpler carry configurations.

  6. Aug 23, 2024 · The AR-15 buffer tube extends from the rest of the lower receiver and connects to the buttstock. Inside the tube is the buffer and buffer spring. Together, they help reduce the felt recoil, improving your accuracy. The way they do it is simple. When you fire a round, the buffer spring captures the force from your bolt carrier.
