It is not the same as playing on original hardware on a CRT TV, but it is a wonderful way of easily playing original cartridges on a modern HDTV. It looks nice on a shelf, and I’ve honestly been having a ball with it.

Genesis is electronic so I'm guessing it causes issues with the 2600+. But even on original C64 and Atari etc you want to be careful with genesis controllers else you blow something up. 1.

  6. Nov 22, 2023 · The 2600+ outputs a 720P signal. Although it seems this isn't quite a standard 720P signal as my TV takes a second or two to lock in and show the output. Also, my capture device in the game room usually has no issue with 480P, 720P, and 1080P sources. But it does NOT like the 720P from the 2600+ and stays in pass through mode.

  8. Many years ago I read an article on-line explaining how to convert an NES controller to work on the Atari 2600. It worked pretty well! Of all the Atari 2600 controllers I've reviewed here, this works as well as any. Still, most classic gamers insist on using a genuine joystick with the system, if only to retain the original spirit of the games.
