Aug 15, 2012 · Is there a way to connect an unmodified 2600 to a TV that only has HDMI/Component inputs? I was going to hook up a 2600 at work for lunch breaks but the TVs we have only support these two inputs. I've looked around the web and haven't found a good solution thus far.
I’m gonna go on a limb and assume you either don’t use cable (live TV) or you use a cable box via either HDMI or yellow-red-white, so you won’t need to get a splitter or unplug anything. Screw this nub into the back of your TV and plug the Atari video cable directly into it, and tune to channel 3.
If your TV set has an old-style coaxial connection then you'll need an RF modulator to convert your 2600's output to coax which can then be fed into your TV to generate a clean (ish) signal. Alternately, there are lots of mods out there which allow your 2600 to output composite, component, or even RGB (VGA).
No that will not work. The output of the Atari 2600 is RF, not composite. Your RCA to HDMI adapter is expecting composite input (separate connections for video and audio).
