  3. I’m guessing the scene has an element of self-parody along with some genuine frustration. The Driller Killer is essentially a descent into madness film. There are some clear references to Roman Polanski’s Repulsion, one of which comes in the form of a skinned rabbit.

  5. Oct 7, 2009 · I had to watch the film a couple of times to really get a feel for what Ferrara was intending to accomplish. At first viewing, I was not impressed. I felt like it was a slasher film that did not deliver. The acting was too artsy-fartsy for me. The murder scenes did not produce enough blood or gore.

  6. Abel Ferrara has a fittingly rugged appearance, and delivers the one performance that is consistently worth watching. Although he noticeably struggles with his lines early on in the film, his acting gradually becomes more believable as Reno slowly starts going off the deep end.
