  1. Not 100%. The GD32 has a minimal voltage of 2.6, while the STM32 has a minimum voltage of 2.0 Volt. So there are cases where the GD32F103 won’t work when the STM32F103 does. Another difference between de GD32F103 and the STM32F103 is the maximum speed. The maximum speed of teh GD32F103 is 108 MHz.

  2. Jan 19, 2018 · It’s remotely possible all the peripherals on the real STM32F103 are licensed from ARM and hence could be (in theory) also licensed by the GD design. But my guess is that at least several of the STM peripherals were designed in-house by STMicro and hence should not be available to the GD design.

  3. Jan 18, 2018 · Lets zoom into the STM32F103C8 chip (which seems the be the go-to choice of the Chinese el-cheapo development breakout boards): The GD32F103C8, manufactued by Gigadevice, has similar specifications and thus many people think the chip is a cloned version of the STM32 part.

  4. So I'm comparing here the STM32F103 and the GD32F103 and discover whether they are, first and foremost, compatible, and secondly what added value the GigaDevice device might give developers (hint: see the video's benchmark comparison table!)

  5. Jan 31, 2018 · For the STM32F103 vs GD32F103 challenge I needed to have two identical boards with a different microcontroller. As far as I could judge both chips are legit and not counterfeits as we bought both chips from (different) reputable sellers. The used chips are GD32F103CBT6 and STm32F103CBT7.

  6. Mar 26, 2018 · Here’s the part 3 of Sjaak’s post comparing the GD32 to the STM32: Since the GD32F103 can run as fast as 108MHz but has not a proper USB clock divider to provide a 48MHz clock for USB communication we need another way to communicate with the outside world.

  8. The GD32F103 is the product line that introduces CAN2.0B, USB FS, I2S and SDIO support within the GD32F10x product series. Its main frequency is up to 108MHz, and it supports up to 3072KB Flash and 96KB SARM. It also integrates USART+UART, I2C, SPI, EXMC (External Memory Controller) as well as other digital and analog peripheral resources.
