I am using a six-button controller on my A8 for several years now, without any problems. Since the A8 only supports one fire-button, one has to press the B-button on the Sega Genesis controller (all other buttons don`t do anything).

I own 2 black and 2 in blue. I have to use the seagull 78s in my 2600 jr to get the 8bitdo receivers to work. Not sure about retrobit.
