Sometimes He would speak audibly, like when He called out to Adam after he had sinned (Genesis 3:9). Other times, Scripture records God speaking in an inward, impressionistic way, like when He spoke to the prophet Samuel as a boy (1 Samuel 3:4-10).
- Examples of What the Voice of the Lord is Like. 2 Samuel 22:14 The LORD thundered from heaven, And the most High uttered his voice. 1 Kings 19:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice.
