  1. Jan 4, 2022 · After spending forty days with His disciples, Jesus ascended bodily into heaven (Acts 1:9). Jesus is still human, and He has a human body in heaven right now. His body is different, however; earthly human flesh is perishable, but heavenly bodies are imperishable (1 Corinthians 15:50). Jesus has a physical body, with a difference.

  2. First, while Jesus was clearly in a body during His 40 days (with His crucifixion scars: Jn 20:20,27, Lk 24:39-40), it was different from the body He had before His resurrection. What happened to the physical body of Jesus Christ after He ascended into heaven? Are we to believe that He physically and spiritually ascended into heaven?

Death is something that none of us really understands until it happens. Our hearts and brains have stopped functioning, and our physical bodies no longer sense the world around us. Our spirit has departed and our bodies are left. What happens next is too late to change. It is either good or bad. Some will end up in heaven and others in hell.

Every man and woman will have a new body some day in the future. Some day God will give us transformed bodies. These new bodies will join our spirits. The apostle Paul tells us this in the following passage. What a wonderful future for those who are Christians! We will have fun in the earthly kingdom and in heaven. Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

    • Will We Know Each Other in Heaven? Jesus in His resurrection body was real and his disciples recognized him. That’s the way it will be for you! It is unthinkable that in heaven we will know less than we do here.
  3. Because Jesus had a body when He resurrected, so will Christians when they are resurrected (John 5:21, 28; Romans 8:23). But, just as Jesus' body is physical yet glorified, our resurrection bodies will be somewhat different than the ones we have now. Our bodies now are suited to our earthly lives. Our heavenly bodies will be suited to heaven.

The resurrected body of Jesus is not a normal human body, it is a glorified body.
