Dec 6, 2023 · The Meze Audio Empyrean II has a similar impedance rating to the original Empyrean at 32Ω impedance but has a slightly higher sensitivity rating of 105 dB SPL @ 1 kHz, 1 V compared to 101 dB. I do not think that translates to a seismic shift in easy to drive though because when A/B’ed I could not hear much of a difference.

Apr 22, 2024 · There are plenty of benefits to this including low distortion (Meze claims under 0.05% THD across the whole frequency range) and a wide frequency response (a highly impressive 8-110,000Hz). Whales and bats beware!
Dec 6, 2023 · With both using the angled pads, the Empyrean II sounds more articulate and open with a lot more perceived headroom and treble energy. It does sound brighter and more mids to highs focused than the original version using the older Alcantara pads.
Nov 8, 2023 · The angled shape creates more space inside the earpad, which translates to an airier sound signature, with cleaner bass and improved presence in the mid-range frequency, when paired with Empyrean II. Furthermore, they create a detailed and accurate listening experience, for the classic audiophile.
