−NBC 1995, Housing and Small Buildings (Part 9) is based to a large measure on Mr. Hansen’s recollections of the Standing Committee’s thinking and rationale when the requirements were discussed. This User’s Guide builds on the initial Commentary on Part 9 and reflects changes found in the NBC 1995. Some parts of the 1990
broadened to address existing buildings as well as triggering mechanisms that bring existing buildings within the scope of NBC requirements. The Forum also recommended that “deemed-to-satisfy” requirements for the application of Part 9 to existing buildings be developed, as opposed to the guidelines currently proposed for Part 9 by the CCBFC.
