One disappointment I'm having with Opera is the fact that downloaded .pdf, .xls/.xlsx and .doc/.docx files do not automatically open after downloading. (I have .pdfs set to open in a separate application.)

Though by default you should get a Save dialog, but there is a setting which would hide that dialog. On the one hand, no real need to worry - Opera will not automatically open a download. If you didn't really want it you can just delete it.

Opera is the same way. Now, in Chromium, after you download a file type, you can click the up arrow for the download in the downloads bar and choose "always open files of this type".

The poster indicated that for him enabling the option solved the problem, which seems the opposite of what should have happened.
