Oct 11, 2017 · I am test driving Opera for the first time, having used Firefox and Chrome for many years. Though by default you should get a Save dialog, but there is a setting which would hide that dialog. On the one hand, no real need to worry - Opera will not automatically open a download. If you didn't really want it you can just delete it.
May 4, 2022 · Opera does the same. For file types, Chromium just downloads them where you can then open them from the download dialog or in your OS from your downloads folder. Opera is the same way. Now, in Chromium, after you download a file type, you can click the up arrow for the download in the downloads bar and choose "always open files of this type".
