    Academic Preparation

    All applications are reviewed individually by the admissions committee. It is important to note that some differences in preparation and academic background may be considered. The applicants who are best suited for Rensselaer will have completed four years of English, four years of mathematics through precalculus, three years of science, and two years of social studies and/or history.     Standardized Test Requirements

    1. SAT with writing or ACT with writing 2. SAT Subject Tests in Math (level 1C or 2C) and Science (biology, chemistry, or physics) for accelerated program applicants only (or ACT in lieu of SAT and SAT Subject Tests). 3. Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (international applicants only). Applicants must have a minimum score of 570 on the paper-based test (PBT), a minimum score of 230 on the computer-based test (CBT), or a minimum of 86 on the internet-based test (iBT).

    1. Electronic Arts applicants are required to submit a creative portfolio. 2. Architecture candidates are asked to submit a creative portfolio by January 1.
