  1. For the money, you'll be hard-pressed to beat the Retron 77. While the unit's construction is a bit fragile, the fact that it's a ROM dump emulator driven by Stella makes this a versatile system for playing your vintage 2600 games easily.

  2. Jun 5, 2019 · I think the best choice would be to spend a little more and purchase a retropie which emulates every game system all in one unit. If you're super nostalgic for classic atari then the Retron 77 is really cool and I do recommend it, but be sure and upgrade that firmware.

  3. Mar 13, 2024 · In my opinion, the 2600+ offers very little that the Retron doesn't already offer and at the same time offers less. The only thing I can think of that it offers more of is being able to play Berzerk Enhanced, as it doesn't work on the Retron.

  6. Mar 25, 2021 · The best part of the Retron 77 is that it's an emulator with a ROM dump and you can easily upgrade your stock unit to the newer, improved version of Stella for the 77. While this requires flashing the new firmware and Stella to a micro SD card, the upgraded version has paddle support and the ability to store ROMS on the SD card for instant play.

  8. Mar 7, 2022 · I took the time to test all my games today and decided why not use the Retron 77 and make a new list while I'm at it. So here's a compatibility list of all of my games that I have. I found about 5 of my games that were dead in the process (luckily none of them were rare ones).
