The ending of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet neatly brings the three pathways of Victory Road, Starfall Street, and Path of Legends to a close. On this page, we'll cover what the ending means in the walkthrough and explain what you can expect from the post-game content once the credits roll.
As you make your way down to Area Zero, it becomes clear that something is not right with the Professor. This is especially evident when you reach Lab 4, and it sounds as if the Professor is malfunctioning. It's explained away as an issue in communication technology, but as you enter the Area Zero Lab, it's clear that all is not what it seems.
It turns out that the real Professor passed away during the explosion that also destroyed Lab 4. In their place, an AI Professor has taken over (either AI Sada or AI Turo depending on whether you have Pokemon Scarlet or Pokemon Violet).
It's revealed that the Professor has been working on a Time Machine, bringing Paradox Pokemon into the Paldea region. We've already encountered this Paradox Pokemon, in the form of the Quaking Earth Titan. For Pokemon Scarlet, this will have been Great Tusk, brought back from the past, and for Pokemon Violet, Iron Treads, which is a futuristic version.
The AI Professor will explain that you'll need the Scarlet/Violet Book to put an end to this experiment. However, they'll also tell you that as soon as that book hits the pedestal, they'll engage in battle mode and you'll have to take them on.
You'll go up against the AI Professor and a team full of Paradox Pokemon, seemingly stopping the Time Machine. But the Paradise Protection Protocol is resilient, even more so than the AI Professor understands, and Koraidon/Miraidon will emerge to stop the shutdown. During this time, all Poke Balls are sealed and you'll be unable to use any other Pokemon besides your own Koraidon/Miraidon.
Terastallizing Koraidon/Miraidon is the best way to get through this difficult battle, making use of the Pokemon's full abilities. After this fight, the Paradise Protection Protocol will be defeated and the AI Professor will use the Time Machine to send themselves either into the distant past or future.
You'll be back at the academy after the credits and called to the director's office along with Nemona, Penny, and Arven. After a quick discussion, you'll receive a Master Ball.
Nemona will, of course, suggest another battle and Chairwoman Geeta of the Pokemon League will arrive. She seems to support Nemona's idea that a tournament is a good idea, and encourages it to be between staff and students. Geeta will also tell you that she wants you to complete an inspection of all the gyms, so they'll be marked on your map once more, letting you battle them again!
