To begin cleaning your PC, launch the Disk Cleanup tool. You can do that by opening the "Start" menu, searching for "Disk Cleanup", and selecting the app in the search results.
Disk Cleanup will prompt you to choose the drive to clean. Here, since most of your temporary (unwanted) files are stored on the Windows installation drive, select that drive. You're free to choose another drive if you want.
Then, select "OK."
Wait for the tool to scan your drive and find unwanted files. This can take some time depending on your drive's size.
Once the scan is finished, you'll see the file types that you can remove from your PC. Click each file type and you'll see more details about it.
Note that the tool may recommend deleting "Windows ESD Installation Files," but you shouldn't delete them. This is because Windows uses those files to help you reset your PC.

Disk cleanup in Windows. To delete temporary files: In the search box on the taskbar, type disk cleanup, and select Disk Cleanup from the list of results. Select the drive you want to clean up, and then select OK. Under Files to delete, select the file types to get rid of. To get a description of the file type, select it.
- Open Settings, and click/tap on the System icon.
- Click/tap on Storage on the left side, and click/tap on the Windows C: drive under Storage on the right side. You can also select other listed drives (if available) to remove temporary files (if available) from them as well.
- Click/tap on Temporary files.
- Click/tap on the items you want to remove to select (check) them, and click/tap on the Remove files button. That's it,
- Press the Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog, type cleanmgr or cleanmgr /lowdisk (all items checked), and click/tap on OK to open Disk Cleanup.
- If you have more than one drive or partition on your PC, then select the Windows C: drive or the drive letter you wanted to clean, and click/tap on OK.
