Named after Dr. Anne Anderson (1906-1997) pioneered the teaching of the Cree language in western Canada. Anderson was a nurse, a teacher, and the author of more than 90 books on Métis history and culture and the Cree language. Dr.
For the 2024 - 2025 school year, Dr. Anne Anderson HighSchool is full in planned classes in Grades 10 to 12 in both the regular and Advanced Placement programs. Nov 10, 2020 · After 16 years of teaching in the public school system, Anderson was able to open the Dr. Anne Anderson Native Heritage and Cultural Centre in 1984. The centre quickly became a vital community hub, providing not only Cree classes for children and adults, but also serving as a library, a repository of cultural artefacts, and a storefront for Indigenous and Métis arts and crafts.
Dr. Anne wrote almost 100 publications, but one was the most groundbreaking. In 1975, she created Dr. Anne Anderson’s Metis Cree Dictionary, a translation of a 38000 English dictionary. She even added new words as technologies were developed, improving her dictionary as the years passed. Anne didn’t end up stopping there as she produced,
