Tardini was a famous lawyer in the city and the president of Parma Football Club, passionate about sport and his city’s team. Along with the Comune of the city of Parma, a competition was launched for the construction of a new city stadium.

Aug 30, 2021 · Parma’s stadium dates back to the 1920s when the club in conjunction with the local council sought to construct a new Stadio Municipale. Spearheaded by Parma F.C President and Italian Lawyer Ennio Tardini, the club launched a national competition for the design of the new stadium in February 1922 offering up a prize of ?10,000 to whoever came up with the winning idea.

Take bus 9 (in the direction of Via Zoni) from Parma’s main rail station. Bus 9 goes at least twice an hour and passes though Parma’s city centre. Named after the former club president Ennio Tardini who instigated the stadium but unfortunately passed away shortly before it opened in September 1923. The stadium originally featured a cycle track that was converted into a running track in 1935.
