    Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, announced the appointment of Vivian Abdelmessih as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of EDC for a 4-year term to March 31, 2027.

As Canada’s export credit agency, EDC supports a strong, sustainable and inclusive Canadian economy and good middle-class jobs.

    Today, the Honourable Mary Ng, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, announced the appointment of Vivian Abdelmessih as Chairperson of the Board of Directors of EDC for a 4-year term to March 31, 2027.  

    Ms. Abdelmessih’s appointment will enable EDC to continue its critical work helping Canadian businesses and entrepreneurs of all backgrounds reduce financial risk, succeed in new markets, and contribute to the economic prosperity of communities at home and abroad.

    She is a highly experienced professional in the financial services sector, having spent more than 30 years working for different financial institutions in Canada and the United States and she has served on numerous corporate and not-for-profit boards.

    “Vivian Abdelmessih’s appointment as EDC Board Chair will ensure that the EDC continues to have strong leadership as it delivers on its mandate. Her broad experience in global corporate banking, capital markets, risk management and commercial banking is a tremendous asset for EDC and its customers, most of which are micro- small- and medium-sized businesses. I would also like to thank Martine Irman for her leadership as chair from November 2017 to November 2022 and Lindsay Gordon for his valued contributions to EDC as interim chair.”
