  4. Jan 30, 1991 · Federico Faggin was born in 1941 in Vicenza, Italy. After attending technical high school, he worked at Olivetti where he designed and built his first computer at age 19. He earned a doctorate in physics from the University of Padua in 1965 and joined the faculty as an assistant professor.
