- Types of Custom Servers
Custom Servers are community-hosted, standalone experiences within SCP: Roleplay, which can be accessed through the "Modes" tab in the menu.
Upon opening the browser, playing will be met with a large menu, split into two halves - normal servers, and sandbox servers, at the top and bottom respectively.
Players may swap between showing public servers or custom servers for both categories, using the buttons at the top. They may also search for individual servers, using their map, server name or mode, with the search bars at the bottom.
Custom Servers typically have a modified version of the base SCP: Roleplay map, or an entirely unique map made from the ground up, through the usage of F3X; more detail regarding this can be found further into the article.
Additionally, custom servers have numerous things that aren't possible to do in the normal roleplay mode — excluding moderator assistance — such as player-made factions, SCP actors and more.
Note that a majority of SCP: Roleplay's rules are not enforced in custom servers. This includes announcement abuse, radio spam, etc, though ro-banging and other major Roblox Terms of Service (ToS) violations will still be enforced.
Normal Servers
A majority of the popular custom servers will be/are hosted in this category. Normal custom servers are those that use either the "Roleplay" or "VC Roleplay" modes upon creating the server. These types of servers are at the top of the server browser — above Sandbox Servers — indicated by the player count being red instead of blue. Further information is TBA.
Sandbox Servers
Not many popular custom servers are hosted in this category due to its nature, and as such, servers in this category will naturally be less popular. Sandbox Servers use the "Sandbox" mode upon creation of the server, instead of the Roleplay or VC Roleplay modes. Upon creation of a sandbox server, players will be automatically put into a default baseplate map, which is almost entirely empty. The server host may access the server settings — which allows them to create custom teams — and grant themselves F3X with the :btools command.
