Fitchburg is the third largest city in Worcester County, Massachusetts, United States. The population was 40,318 at the 2010 census. Fitchburg is home to Fitchburg State University as well as 17 public and private elementary and high schools. Fitchburg was first settled in 1730 and was officially incorporated in 1764.

Founded in 1892, the Fitchburg Historical Society celebrates a city that has been a center of industry, culture, business, learning and innovation since it began in 1764. Our library and exhibition hall are open Mondays and Tuesdays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
