Unquestionably the best part of the whole dance experience has been getting to meet many new friends, both among our instructors and of course the many other students we have met in the past couple years. Samba is a lively and colourful dance that originated in Brazil. It’s popular during Carnival, when the dancers wear elaborate feathered costumes. Although it’s often danced alone, the term ‘Brazilian waltz’ has been used to refer to partnered samba dance. Written in 2/4 time. Should be played at a tempo of 52-56 measures per minute.
