Apr 23, 2024 · 2004 — 2009. The logo, designed for the Green Day “American Idiot” album, which was released in 2004, was the first to have additional graphics on it. The new visual identity consisted of a narrowed black logotype and an emblem above it. The emblem depicted a hand holding a grenade, which was stylized as a heart.
Its been used a lot on t-shirt designs, stage backdrops, etc since Warning to the point of being a sort of general logo for the band. Good question on why it would be on the back cover of AI though, had never really thought about it - their production is credited to "Green Daze Music" it may be the logo they use for that but who knows.
