Downfall ( German: Der Untergang) is a 2004 German historical war drama film written and produced by Bernd Eichinger and directed by Oliver Hirschbiegel. It is set during the Battle of Berlin in World War II, when Nazi Germany is on the verge of total defeat, and depicts the final days of Adolf Hitler (portrayed by Bruno Ganz ).

Mar 10, 2005 · Frau Junge and two other secretaries bunk in a small concrete room, and sneak away to smoke cigarettes, which Hitler cannot abide. Acting as a hostess to the death watch, his mistress Eva Braun ( Juliane Kohler) presides over meals set with fine china and crystal.
Peter, who destroyed two enemy tanks and will soon be awarded a medal by Hitler, calls his father a coward and runs away. At a meeting in the Fuhrerbunker, Hitler forbids the overwhelmed 9th Army from retreating, instead ordering Obergruppenfuhrer Felix Steiner's units to mount a counter-attack.
