- Avoid the unnecessary disturbance of soils; encourage conservation agriculture, no-till, and the proper drainage of soils. Choose geographically and agro-ecologically appropriate cropping systems, and encourage crop rotation. Employ established practices that control erosion and invest in the development of new approaches to prevent erosion.

May 20, 2022 · For encouraging a swift transition towards a systems approach for sustainable soil and land management, we concluded that among all knowledge types, those addressing socio-economic interrelations with soil health and related policies currently represent the biggest bottleneck.
Nov 12, 2024 · This chapter has explored a wide array of soil conservation approaches, tools, and techniques. The use of soil conservation practices provides a myriad of benefits spanning from soil erosion reduction, enhancement in crop productivity, improvement of soil health, and mitigation of climate change.
Furthermore, we found that diversifying soil management practices such as agroforestry or including livestock into arable systems are valuable options for increasing biomass, mitigating/adapting to climate change, and improving soil related ecosystem services.
