- You can fish from either shore, or paddle out to the center of the lake in a kayak. A trail runs along the south shore—it’s less than a half mile from one end to the other. The trail leads to a lakeside picnic area with tables and barbecue grills, which are shaded by the surrounding Jeffrey pines.

Lake Campground is located at the eastern end of ¼-mile long Jackson Lake in the Angeles National Forest. Visitors to the campground enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and swimming. Motorized boats are not allowed on the lake. A drive along Angeles Crest Scenic Byway makes a wonderful day-trip.

This route starts through some wetlands toward the scenic Jackson Lake before hiking to the rocky outcropping of English Mountain. There are panoramic views of the Sierras and Echo Lake below. English Mountain has many routes to its 8,373-foot summit.
