Strive for food neutrality, where you allow yourself to enjoy all foods without guilt. Remember, healthy eating patterns are flexible, not rigid.

    • Know your brain (and how it works). I bet that at some point, you’ve heard advice about how to stop food obsessed thoughts. I’m willing to bet that most of it boiled down to “just stop thinking about food.”
    • STOP Stressing about what you’re eating.
    • Keep your body happy (and nourished). We’ve talked about this before here on the blog (and on the YouTube channel), but it bears repeating.
    • Mix it up at the table! Once you drop the food rules, replace them with food freedom. By that, I mean giving yourself the option to choose from a variety of foods to support and energize your body.
    • Eat enough and consistently. If you aren’t eating enough food or are eating inconsistently throughout the day, your body likely isn’t getting the energy or nutrients it needs.
    • Tap into your hunger and fullness. Learning to tap into your inner wisdom of hunger and fullness can feel overwhelming at first, but is a crucial step towards silencing those food thoughts.
    • Identify what food rules you have. Once you start to give your body what it needs and understand it’s inner cues you can start to see what food rules you might have.
    • Learn your patterns with food. Finally, as you learn how to stop thinking about food all the time, start to notice your patterns with food. This looks like taking time to reflect and evaluate your current habits and routines around food.
