This study proposes music therapy as a novel approach in clinical psychiatry for generalized anxiety disorder (GAD), which is one of the most common and incapacitating mental disorders. In this study, we present the results of a pilot intervention with patients under clinical control and receiving pharmacotherapy.

Building on the promise of such interventions, this systematic review evaluates the evidence-base for psychosocial interventions that use music as an innovative strategy to improve treatment engagement and/or mental health outcomes for A-YA.

But given that only eight RCTs reported the effects of music therapy at follow-up and the duration of follow-up was inconsistent, further researches are needed on the lasting effects after the intervention is discontinued.
