Apr 28, 2015 · Caliburn and Excalibur are two different swords. Caliburn is the "sword in the stone" which is used to prove king Arthur's right to the throne. He used this weapon in many battles and won but at some point the "King's sword" is broken, leaving king Arthur with no powerful swords
My take is that the war messed up Arthur's head beyond belief, and chaos only furthered the damage. His biggest role model betrays him and all of his friends, rejoins the demons in a conquest to reignite the holy war and subjugate every other race, and even fights against Arthur until his death.
In many versions of the story, Arthur was taken away by Merlin at birth and raised in secret for several possible reasons. He would be a target for assassination since many would rather take over the High King position rather than let it become hereditary.
