Fireheart earned his warrior name, and ascended to deputyship after Tigerclaw's banishment. He also mentored Cinderpelt before she got injured on the Thunderpath and had to switch to becoming a medicine cat , his sister, Princess's son, Cloudtail , and Tigerclaw and Goldenflower's son, Brambleclaw .
Firepaw encounters a ShadowClan cat named Yellowfang, who is now living as a rogue since being unfairly driven out by Brokenstar, ShadowClan's leader. They battle, and Firepaw wins, injuring Yellowfang's leg in the process. Instead of turning her over to Bluestar, Firepaw feeds her before feeding his own Clan.

Fireheart is a ThunderClan warrior cat now, but danger still lurks in the forest - and possibly closer than he thinks. With the chill of winter setting in, the cats of rival RiverClan are growing restless, while WindClan turns weak and faces threats from all sides.
He develops a relationship with Yellowfang after finding her in the forest, and is happy to see her become ThunderClan's medicine cat after Spottedleaf's death. After driving Brokenstar out of ShadowClan, he is given the warrior name Fireheart.
