At the ball, the king proclaims the Hundred-Year War's end, rewarding the Band of the Falcon with the title of White Phoenix Knights and bestowing the title of White Phoenix General on Griffith. During the toast, Griffith sips from his goblet and falls to the ground.
During the ceremony at the end of the Conviction arc, Femto used the Behelit Apostle to reincarnate into a human body. He's still most certainly Femto and seems to be able to change form at will, but he now has a human vessel to walk the earth with.

The problem is that killing them but Void, allowed him to sire new God Hand members, once every 216 years. So my theory is that the Skull Knight endgame is having ALL God Hand Members incarnated in the world, to get the chance to kill them all in a relatively short time span (withing 216 years).
