Peter and John did not have material wealth, but they had something far more precious to offer—the healing power of Jesus Christ. There is power in the name of Jesus, including the power to heal a man who had been lame from birth.
One day, when Peter and John were about to walk through the temple gate, they noticed the man who could not walk. The man was asking everyone for money. Peter looked at the man and said, “Look at me,” so the man looked up at him. “I don’t have any silver or gold but I have something much better.”.
Peter and John were apparently heading to the temple courts to pray when this occurred. Peter and John were able to perform this miracle through the power of Jesus, a further indication that the church was an extension of Jesus' ministry on the earth.
