For the first one with Fernpaw, Whitestorm (I think) told him it wouldnt be a great idea to have two inexperienced warriors mentoring at the same time, but Fireheart and Graystripe both had apprentices right before that.
Sandstorm - Sandstorm is Firestar's canon mate, though hated him at first for his kittypet roots. She fell in love with him sometime after he saved her from falling to her death, though he did not notice this at first. The two of them eventually did get together, and are still mates in StarClan up until this day.
The story centers around Fireheart, deputy of ThunderClan, as he attempts to keep his Clan safe with the help of his ailing leader, while fighting off outside threats such as dogs and enemy Clans.
