Mods can be installed without tmodloader, but it's complicated. Although due to tmodloader existance, I don't know if there are any standalone mod that don't need it to work. Assuming there are, they themselves were probably made for 1.3 or lower, and there might be a compatability issues if it even works.
Hi, I'd like to play Terraria just myself with some mods, but I also want to play with a friend the base game in another world. Would there be any problem just enabling/disabling mods on tmodloader every time I want to play each one? I don't want to mess up.
Say for example, that there's a mod to add new sword to the game. All the code is in the mod folder, all the graphics, all the effects, and it follows Terraria's folder hierarchy. The problem now is... you need a way to get Terraria to open up and read this mod's data in a way that makes sense to it, and can run it without causing errors.
