My dad is visiting in June and every time he visits I send him an email explaining the different steps in the process (go to immigration --> pick up luggage --> show your completed form to customs --> drop luggage off at the conveyer belt --> take train to main terminal (where I meet him) and so on).
The "train" system is a farce. Takes so long to get between terminals. I suppose if you use the airport a lot you "know" the in's and out's of how it operates. If you are a first timer I am afraid it is an airport to lay down and avoid if you can. Took us 1.5 hours from time we arrived at the airport to get to the gate in the "S" terminal.

Flix is cheap but a tad slow 3/5. Quick Shuttle is usually pretty fast on the route and cheap 4/5. Greyhound is meh but has a lot of times available so it’s flexible. Decent fast but busy. Not the cheapest 3/5. Amtrak Train is great bc it’s comfy BUT it’s hella slow (4-4.5hr trips) also not very cheap 4/5.

International arrivals come in at the south terminal connected by a train system to other areas of the airport. It won't take long to take the train to the other gates but yes time in immigration can vary depending on how many planes arrived at the same time.
