Dec 17, 2019 · Yes, you do have to get the card specifically set to student. From the Go Fare info website: "Students must see a Station Attendant or visit a Customer Service Outlet to have a “Student” setting added to their card, along with the expiry date for that setting."

If you are loading a youth, post-secondary or senior pass onto your card, you must take your PRESTO card to Shoppers Drug Mart or the TTC’s Customer Service Centre to have the fare type changed on your card. You will need to bring valid government issued identification. You only have to set your fare type once.
