FOR STELLA: By default newer versions of Stella support the Classic Joystick specifically. If you are in Xbox mode, you can use it like a regular old Atari Joystick. If you are in Atari VCS mode you not only get joystick usage but ALSO TWIST.
Hello fellow gamers, I was wondering if anyone has tried to map and use an Atari VCS classic joystick controller on Steam? I want to make sure that all of it's functions work before I go purchase one to play Atari vault games with it on my pc/ Laptop.
Oct 27, 2022 · If you want, you can buy the classic controller for the Atari VCS, which has spinner functionality and is compatible with Atari 50. Another easy workaround is to buy a USB trackball like the Logitech Marble Mouse, and use that as a spinner.
Dec 17, 2020 · I've put together a quick video showing you how to use the Classic on Stella and Steam: The main thing is learning how to swap between Atari VCS Mode and Xbox 360 Mode, the VCS Mode has twist and is supported by Stella while Steam doesn't currently appear to support VCS Mode, but does work with Xbox 360 mode on the Classic.
Does anyone know if the Atari VCS controller is plug and play in steam. Atari has not released drivers for this to be natively supported on PC but they are working on it. Atari 50 supports the VCS classic joystick because Digital Eclipse chose to support it natively within their software.
