Dial the balance code for your region.
Depending on your region, you may have a special number you can dial in the Phone app that will automatically display your available balance. Some regions will require you to text a word to a specific number to receive the balance instead. Dial the code that's appropriate for your region to get the balance:

You can use any desktop web browser to do this.
Tap a bill to view.
You'll see a drop-box under the header "View bills" that you can use to select a bill to view.
Navigate to the Your credits tab.
You'll see here if you have any extra credits or not on your account.
Review your usage and any remaining balance that you have.
Open Virgin Plus My Account.

If you don't have the mobile app, you can download it for free from the Google Play Store and App Store.
Sign in with your Virgin account if you aren't already.

Virgin Mobile customers: There are two ways you can sign in. Either by having a Virgin Mobile SIM present in a device (iPhone, cellular-enabled iPad, Android phone or cellular-enabled tablet) where the App has verified your SIM (whilst on the Virgin Mobile data network). Or you can sign in to the app on WiFi using your online Virgin Mobile Your Account credentials – giving you even more control.
