Feb 9, 2019 · Disconnect your GPS from your computer and power it on. Go to the Map page. Click Menu. Go to Setup Map. Go to the last option: Map Information – Select Map. Select the map you want to use, enter and choose Enable. You can disable the other maps. I do this, just to be sure they don’t interfere when routing (but this may be superstition).
Create free to use map packages from OSM data. The OSM community will be very happy in assisting in such step. Provide full specs. about file format and testers so the OSM community can code converters. This worked very well for example on Garmin devices.
What I do with my Etrex 10, which sits in my car for the "just in case" is use GSAK to strip all the info, logs, description etc from it, which leaves a small footprint, the phone is used to read the description, logs etc. I keep about 2 counties worth of roads on it. Makes it good for local geocaching. Sort of like the old loc files.
May 12, 2011 · Mac: Press command, shift, and four all at the same time and a little target will appear in place of the mouse arrow. Place the target at the top left corner of the map you want to copy. Hold down the button on your mouse and drag the target to the bottom right corner of the area you want to save as your map.
May 19, 2020 · If you do not like the appearance of your Garmin or the Freitzeitkarten-OSM maps than you can modify/change the TYP-file associated with the map. For this you should have a look at two important tools: JaVaWa GMTK which allows you to associate a different TYP-File with a map and TYPWiz 6 which allows you to edit an existing TYP-File.
